Ms. Biron is the founder of Equinox, founded in 1996. She has extensive experience in commercial strategies and intellectual property, including managing IP portfolios, direct marketing, product commercialization and building successful partnerships between independent inventors, larger scale developers, distributors and investors.
Ms. Biron has developed unique IP management software and provides her clients with a personalized approach in managing their IP assets. Ms. Biron assists clients in the purchase and sale of IP assets and works closely with attorneys in initiating and negotiating IP licensing agreements. Moreover, she has developed innovative software to provide greater accessibility to IP vendors and purchasers. Ms. Biron merges her business experience and knowledge of patent and trademark agents.
A long-standing and active member of Montreal’s business community, Ms. Biron has built a wide network with various chambers of commerce and business associations, further helping clients launch products on the market.
Professional Memberships and Involvement
Shirlee Biron is a sports enthusiast and was Quebec Badminton Champion in 1979, 1980, 1981, and 1982. She won the Canadian Championship in 1983. Shirlee Biron continues to play badminton at an amateur competitive level.
He started his career in 1995 working at a Montreal-based intellectual property firm. He also worked in the intellectual property department of an international telecommunications company. Gonzalo Lavin is a member of the Order of Professional Engineers of Quebec and of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada.
Gonzalo Lavin practices in the telecommunications, electronics, software, electrical and mechanical fields, working closely with a full range of clients, including universities, high tech companies, and foreign patent firms. He helps his clients obtain patents throughout the world, and provides opinions and counselling in patentability, validity and infringement matters.

Isabelle Pelletier is a registered patent agent in Canada and the United States. She joined Goudreau Gage Dubuc in May 2005 and was named partner in January 2016. Isabelle has a Bachelor of Science degree and a Doctorate of Philosophy in chemistry from Université Laval and a postdoctoral fellowship in material sciences from University of Delaware. She was granted a scholarship from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada during her graduate studies and her postdoctoral fellowship. Her research findings have been published in numerous scientific journals.
Her practice covers the areas of chemistry, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, and nanotechnology. It also includes domestic and foreign patent prosecution. She also provides opinions and counselling regarding patentability as well as patent validity and infringement matters.
Isabelle is also part of the litigation group to which she provides technical expertise.

Scholarships and Awards
Alain Dumont, a registered patent agent in Canada and the United States, joined Goudreau Gage Dubuc in January 2006 and was named partner in January 2016. He graduated from the University of Montreal in 1997 with a Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in biochemistry, and received his doctorate of philosophy in immunology from McGill University in 2003. He received a scholarship from the Medical Research Council during his doctoral studies, and his research findings have been published in numerous scientific journals. Alain Dumont then worked as an associate to the scientific director of a Network of Centres of Excellence dedicated to the development of vaccines.
Alain Dumont’s main areas of practice are biotechnology and pharmaceutical. He has particular expertise in the areas of immunology and vaccinology, as well as in biochemistry, genomics, proteomics, and molecular and cellular biology. He has experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in domestic and foreign jurisdictions, as well as in providing opinions and counselling in patentability, validity and infringement matters.
